United Way of SSC Receives Award For Legal Aid Initiatives

We are an inaugural award recipient of The Courage Project- A national initiative recognizing everyday acts of bravery across the country.

The Courage Project celebrates organizations and individuals who stand up for what’s right, help their neighbors, and build stronger, more connected communities. The founding partners of The Courage Project are the CFLeads, the Freedom Together Foundation, The James Irvine Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Marguerite Casey Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, the Public Welfare Foundation, The Skillman Foundation, the Surdna Foundation, and United Way Worldwide.

Our recognition comes for our efforts to build a legal aid initiative that supports our elderly and A.L.I.C.E. (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) populations – people with little or no access to civil legal support. As of March 2024, we were certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Legal Aid Entity.

We’re incredibly proud to stand alongside other courageous changemakers, and we’re inspired by the reminder that every act of compassion counts.
